Gabriel is an associate in the firm’s Emeryville Office, where he fights for mesothelioma patients who have been victimized by corporate wrongdoers. Prior to joining MRHFM, Gabriel worked as a litigation and investigations associate at a major global law firm and then served in local government, including as an Assistant District Attorney.  During his time as a prosecutor, Gabriel brought criminal and civil law enforcement cases against corporations and individuals, most notably by winning a high-profile corruption conviction against the elected Sheriff of a major Bay Area county on charges arising from a scheme to give out concealed weapons permits in exchange for campaign donations and other favors.

Gabriel received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 2012, where he served as an Articles Editor on the Texas Law Review, worked on United States Supreme Court cases as part of the school’s Supreme Court Clinic, placed as a quarterfinalist in a national moot court competition, and was inducted into the school’s highest honor society, the Chancellors.  His groundbreaking legal research on prosecuting corporate criminals, Arthur Andersen and the Myth of the Corporate Death Penalty, was published in 2013 in the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree with Highest Honors from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, where he majored in wildlife ecology and tutored other students in genetics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry, a scientific background that he now brings to bear fighting for victims of mesothelioma.

Gabriel is a member of the California Bar, the Bar Association of San Francisco, and the American Constitution Society, and is admitted to practice law in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of California, and all California State Courts.  Outside of the office, Gabriel spends his free time supporting community organizers, competing in Olympic fencing matches, birdwatching, hiking, biking, watching classic movies, and relaxing with his wife and their two cats.
